Camboinhas Beach can be considered one of the best in Rio de Janeiro. Located in Niterói, a city very close to Rio, Camboinhas is Known for its beautiful beaches with clear and calm waters, ideal for swimming and water sports, The beach’s waters are usually rough, with strong waves often breaking, but there are periods of calm.

The beach’s name comes from a shipwreck: a cargo ship of the same name ran aground there. Nothing the Brazilian Navy did could remove it, so it had to be dismantled on-site. To this day, some pieces can be seen at low tide, about halfway along the stretch of sand. The region used to be a fishing village, but it became a target for real estate developments and gained notoriety.

With a well-maintained boardwalk and a protected restinga area, the entire shoreline is very pleasant and beautiful. Many kiosks along the beach offer a wide variety of items to beachgoers, with a highlight on seafood dishes.
